V Poznámce překladatele Martin Hilský píše: V čem tedy vlastně spočívá výjimečnost a originalita Shakespearových sonetů? Zdá se, že především v tom, že Shakespeare byl, na rozdíl od velké většiny ostatních autorů sonetů, především dramatický a divadelní básník.
